Safety & moderation

How Raahi is designed to keep alerts useful and fair, and where its limits are.

Raahi hasn't launched. This describes our current prototype and may change.

112Emergency? Call 112. Raahi can't send help. For SOS, use Himmat Plus, Delhi Police's women safety app. Women's helpline: 181.

Raahi is an independent project. It isn't affiliated with Delhi Police or the Delhi government.

From report to alert

  1. One report

A new report is marked unconfirmed and shown only to people close by, within about 1 km.

  2. Neighbours confirm

It becomes confirmed when several independent people nearby report or confirm it within a short time. Several accounts on one phone count as one.

  3. Or say it's not there

People nearby can say they don't see it. Enough of these mark it disputed and flag it for moderator review, once that's in place.

  4. Moderator review (planned)

Moderators are planned to be able to verify an alert, remove it with a reason, or mark it all clear.

  5. Alerts expire

Alerts fade after a few hours, depending on the type, so the map stays current.

Sensitive reports

For harassment and stalking.

  • No username

No usernames are shown on the report or in its comments.

  • Blurred location

Others see an area blurred by about 200 m, not the exact spot. We still store the exact spot, as the Privacy Policy explains.

  • Photos stay private

Photos added to these reports are never published.

Blurring lowers, but can't remove, the chance of someone guessing the area.

Checks against misuse

  • Text checks

Notes with names, phone or vehicle numbers, links, or religion, caste or region terms are sent back for editing. Abuse and spam are hidden.

  • Limits

Each account and device can post only a few reports an hour.

  • Fair confirmations

New accounts, and repeated voting between the same accounts, count for less. People whose reports hold up earn a little more weight, with a firm cap.

  • Photo clean-up

Photos are re-saved without hidden location data (EXIF).

Your controls

  • One appeal

If your note is hidden, you'll see a short reason and can appeal once.

  • Withdraw a report

You can withdraw your own report within 30 minutes.

  • Delete your account

Deleting your account withdraws your reports and removes your votes and comments.

Limits, honestly

  • Automatic text checks can miss creative spellings and some names.
  • Faces and number plates in photos aren't blurred automatically yet, so photos will rely on moderator review, which is still planned.
  • Confirmations are meant to reduce false alarms but can't rule them out. Use your judgement and official sources.
